So many times I have found myself in a situation where I am trying to measure the performance of a production box, but I have no baseline to compare it to because I never ran any benchmarks before going into production.
No, I have just purchased a new server to migrate my SQL services to, and I finally have a little lead time to first run some benchmarks on the box to see how she runs.
Any suggestions?
I know I want to run SQLIO and see what kind of disk throughput I can expect. Are there any other good tools or tests I should run while I have the chance? I want to take full advantage of this opportunity.

Better way would be; test or analyze everything at test server/environment; set your benchmarks then hit the production

I work only to learn Sql Server...though my company pays me for getting their stuff done;-)
