  • That's probably in the TOP 20 (no pun intended) of the all-time most requested T-SQL improvements, and someone at Microsoft agrees with you...  SQL 2005 includes a new SELECT TOP (@var) syntax without all the mucking about with SET ROWCOUNT and dynamic SQL.

  • LOL.  I didn't even realize there were still places where you could be one or the other and not at least a little bit of both...

  • - you're right...it's only a matter of ratio these days...instead of 6 of one and half a dozen of the other..you could actually be weightier on one side than the other..but you can't really escape either role altogether...
