    I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on which version of SQL Server 2012 a beginner might injstall on a PC to begin learning SQL.

    I tried importing a simple contact Database from Excel and Express was giving me all kinds of fits,

    any other recommendations/

    Use the Developer Edition .... as long as it is NOT used in production it is equivalent to the Enterprise Edition.

    Use GOOGLE to search for a site where you can purchase. Most likely AMAZON will have it available for cost of approximately $50 U.S. Dollars, and it will come on either a CD or DVD .

    If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
