  I have worked with Oracle before when writing triggers and have use the "Before" statement multiple times to have the trigger execute before the triggering statement. SQL 7.0 doesn't seem to recognize "before" as a key word. Does SQL 7.0 not support "before?"

  Under SQL Server 7 there isn't anything like it. Under SQL Server 2000 there is the INSTEAD OF trigger. Here's a bit about them from Dr. Moreau:
