  Thank you for this useful script.

  I am a Novice / intermediate.

  as per your instructions,

  I created the directories, renamed filespec and [dbname], the script executes successfully with no errors but when I look in the directories there is nothing there?

  what am I doing wrong?

  here's the sample output:
