Good Day All. We're looking for pros/cons between using 'basic' disk volumes versus 'dynamic disk volumes for SQL Server files (data, log and backup on separate volumes). We already know that once we convert a 'basic' disk volume to a 'dynamic' volume we are limited in how many times that we can 'extend' it (however the actual number eludes us presently) wehereas a volume created as 'dynamic' the first time does not have this limitation. The present environment is HP SQL Servers (some clustered and some not) with an EMC SAN. Our immediate question is whether or not 'dynamic' disk volumes are going to cause us to take a performance hit on the Windows side. Also, if there are any other gotcha's that anyone can mention (good thoughts are welcome as well !). Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
