Easy question I hope.
We are in the middle of converting our SQL server databases to version 2000.
I'd like to install the new 2000 sp2 drivers on our desktops before converting the databases. Will the 2000 drivers work with the 7.0 databases without any hitches?
Thanks

The SQL Server client tools will. The MDAC components should as well. If you have any concerns about compatibility, you can go here:

Windows 2000 shipped with MDAC 2.5. SQL Server 2000 shipped with MDAC 2.6. There are issues with installing the later MDAC versions for clustered SQL Server 7 installs (servers only, not clients), but I don't recall anything off hand about clients having any issues with MDAC versions 2.5, 2.6, or 2.7 connecting to a SQL Server 7 installation. We have clients on all 3 where I work.
