Morning All,
I am considering taking backups from one of the synchronous secondary replicas; as a result I've hit a snag in my knowledge.
I understand that you cannot take differentials off of any secondary replicas. And as result all backups from these replica are COPY_ONLY: Does that mean if I were to backup the log on the Primary Replica I cannot apply these to the copy_only backup I've taken on the replica. Onto a separate server?
Let's say I have a full copy_only from last night taken from a secondary synchronous replica. I also have log backups every 15 minutes (before/during and since) that full...
Can I restore the full into norecovery and then apply the logs? Or is the log chain sufficiently broken now?
Cheers
Alex

The log chain will still be intact, copy_only is only there to stop the differential bit being reset.
As long as you have the right backup chain you'll be fine.
