Backups After Replication Installed

  • What backup strategy should be employed after replication has been installed on an SQL Server 7.0 machine?  Should the Distribution database be included in the regular backup schedule?

  • You should always backup the distribution db, but depeding of what type of replication are you using it will change the strategy  you use.

the most critical should be if you are using transactional replication. If so, backup the distribution with the same strategy that you are using for your published databases. Chck in BOL for the "sync with backup" option looking for "Strategies for Backing Up and Restoring Transactional Replication"
