I run nightly FULL and xaction log backups every 3 hours between 7 am and 7 pm
If the Server is rebooted during the day, is it recommended to do a full backup before doing transaction log backups once the server is back up?

On my oppinion there is no necessity to do that especialy if you DB are quite large

There is no need at all. But why do you have to restart your server everyday ? However, there is no need to have a full backup after the server restart.

Thank you for the replies. I don't restart the Server everyday. It is rebooted quite infrequently in fact!!! It just so happens that we had a bit of a 'Network' problem yesterday and the Server had to be rebooted in the middle of the day. I ended up suspending my tlog backups for the rest of the afternoon and let my Full Backups kick off at 7pm as normal. Thank you for your input !!!!!!
