Backup/Restore Disaster Recovery Plan Doc

  • Does anyone have a Backup/Restore (Disaster Recovery plan) document template ?

If so, can you let me know so that I can get in touch, as I need to write one, but would need a template, as it sould save me so much time. If you have one that I can look at, kindly specify and I will PM you.

    Thanks

    John

  • You can't have such a thing as the requirements / constraints / costs / facilities for such a thing will vary from one business to another. I'm sure there's been some articles on DR on the site .. I'd suggest a search.

I'm sure many of us could give a number of suggestions and guidelines, but in all the client sites I have worked the DR implementation has been different.

If you're just after backup restore - then the same rules apply - how much data can you afford to lose - what's your recovery time etc. etc.

The most important point I can make is that " The only good backup is one that has been successfully restored"  e.g. If your backups are critical then restore each one to make sure.

As a last comment whatever any further posts suggest I guarantee someone else will have a different view < grin > It's really a personal issue for your client/company as to what you adopt and is normally driven by the business requirements and expectations vs what you can afford.
