Hi
i am trying to restore 4gb backup file into my test database in my sqlserver 2005 express edition
but it is not restoring
i think it is due to some edition problem
i would like to know the what r the sqlserver editions and how much size backup file we can restore in each edition
any body clarify my doughts

Hi,
i think there is no limit for the backup sizes in the different editions. But there is a 4 GB limit in database size in the Express Edition, and the first step doing a restore is, that the SQL server creates the database. And because the database normaly is much more bigger than the backup file, you can't restore your backup.
There are no limits for database size in all other editions.

Hi thanks for u r valuble suggession
i tried to restore the 136mb backupfile but it is giving error
then i uninstalled sqlserver express edition then i installed dev edition then i restored, it is successfully restored
But why even 136 mb also iam not able to restore
can u please clarify

Can u tell me what exactly is the error shown.
