Backup size is bigger than DB size

    Restoring to a new database took 8 minutes. The new database is 3GB - 0.7GB bigger than the original! According to the logs "Bypassing recovery for database ... because it is marked IN LOAD". Not entirely sure what that means.

    then this must have been the file size at the time the backup was taken. Is the .ldf 1mb on the restored db or something bigger. sounds to me like the db was shrunk after the backup.

    The database definitely wasn't shrunk. I can reproduce this problem at will. The backup file and the restored database are always larger than the original.

    sorry, I give in. As long as the database .bak file is restorable and your databse is working............
