Hi,
My one of database size around 5GB (data file 4.5 & log 500 MB) once i took the complete full backup the backup size is only 2.5 GB how its possible ? [Recovery model is full]
My understanding is full backup will take complete .mdf and .ldf if so as per files size it should around 5GB but its reduced.
Kindly clarify on this.

A backup is the size of the data in the file + the amount of log space needed to restore consistently. It is not the sum of the sizes of the files.
