Backup set expire

    Hi all, can any one explain what this mean ...Backup set expire date .. What is meant by expiring here. The backup will be there but we cant use or what..

    I'm not 100% sure but I think it is the following: If you have a tape and use it for backup, and there is another backup file on it, that is not already expired, you cannot overwrite the tape.

    I'm not sure this works when using a single file for multiple backups using the overwrite option.
