I have a problem with backing up my database files from disk to tape using NT backup. The first scheduled backup works fine, but future backups fail with the message 'The operation was not performed because no unused media was available.' I figure this is a simple problem and would appreciate help from anyone that has run accross this before. thanks

Most likely the tape is too full and it's not set to overwrite the tape.

Steve,
I truly wish it was that simple. The directory I am backing up is only a little over 1 GB. I have even used newly formatted tapes and get the same problem after the first backup. I checked the overwrite existing backups option when I set up the job in NT Backup also. Do you have any other ideas as to what might be causing this? thanks

Did you tried to put the 'INIT' parameter in your backup script ?
(Hope you use a script 'cause I do not trust the Entreprise Manager's wizards)
