I have some backup jobs created from database maintenance plans. They do backup but hang (saying that they still executing jobs) after the jobs have finished. Then they won't do on the next cycle(s). I have to restart the sqlagent service to fix the problem. Do you ever have this kind of experience?

Forgive me if this is obvious, but are you refreshing Enterprise Manager? You can either exit out, or right click on the Jobs icon and select refresh. The console will not do this for you automatically and the display status of the jobs will stay at "Executing" until the connection is refreshed.
Failing that, do you have enough disk space to support your backups? Are any errors being reported in the logs (either SQL Server or Windows server)? Can you complete a backup using a T-SQL statement?
Hope this helps.

Yes I did close the EM and reopen it back and I did click refresh. The problem still persisted. I ended up deleting DBMPs and their corresponding jobs and re-created them from scratch. They work OK now.
