Backup into multiple (smaller in size) files

    Hi All,

    We have a need to backup our sql db into smaller files in size ( say 2Gig each). Does the maintenance plan support backing up to multiple files? I know that it seems to work with manual backup.

    I've done a fair amount of work with Database Maintenance Plans, and I've never seen anything that implies they support partial database backups (i.e., file group backups). You will probably need to work out your own routines. (I had to do so to get differential backup functionality into our system...)
