  Backup failed with the following error message,

  Operating system error 1784(The supplied user buffer is not valid for the requested operation.)

  What does this error mean and what could have cause this error?

  This is a Windows error, and possibly a driver/hardware issue. I found a few references similar to this one: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259573
