i just want to know, when we take a backup of any database, there is a option where we can set the value of BACKUP SET WILL EXPIRE.
what is the mean of that? , is it automatically delete the backup file or it is there but not used to restore.

Per BOL:
{ EXPIREDATE = 'date'| RETAINDAYS = days }
Specifies when the backup set for this backup can be overwritten.

No Problem. ๐
Giving a small exercise to you. Create a backup with tomorrowโs expire date. Then try to overwrite it in another backup operation.
