Backup everything without destination server

  • Hi,

We only have SQLServer on my local machine but i'm getting a new PC. Is there a simple way to backup everything (databases, users, DTS packages, etc) into a folder that i can burn onto cd and then restore once my new computer arrives? I've used the backup procedure to copy databases before but I'd rather not have to recreate all the DTS packages and users when the new machine arrives.

Unfortunately I don't have an onsite DBA so any help would be very appreciated!

    Thanks

  • If the drive structure is the same, restore master and msdb after you've installed QSL on the new machine. If not, you need to backup all your DTS packages manually. You can script out all jobs.
