I took a backup of a SQL 2005 database on my system and sent it to a coworker. He has SQLServerExpress and I have the Developer edition. He logged in as SA and tried to restore my backup but got an "Access Denied" error.
I thought this was as simple as sending the backup and letting them restore it - is there anything else special I need to do to send an entire database to someone?
Thanks

Can you restore the backup to another instance? It may be that the database has some enterprise only features as well or is too big (>4GB) for SQL Server Express.

There must be more to the error. Perhaps file permissions?

the sqlserver service account needs to have access to the backup file location (so don't use a mapped drive, but use unc if possible)

ALZDBA nailed it - the file was in his My Documents folder which the SQL Service account did not have access to. He moved it and it worked.
Thanks everyone!
