I have a generic question on backing up reports. Does anyone script the rdl files out of the ReportServer database and back them up, or do you simply backup the ReportServer database and plan on a restore if you need to recover a specific report?
We have many ppl through out the business writing reports and many have perms to publish the report to the server without our assistance. We are backing up the ReportServer database, but I'm questioning if it would be better to script the rdl files out daily and throw them in SCC.
Thanks,
Kevin

I have never scripted anything out before but I have recovered a report server install from backups, I would say that is my preferred way to get subscription details, reports, data sources (etc) back.

Just backup the database and the encryption key.
Don't lose the encryption key.
There is a scripting tool available if you want to script everything from one server to another. Look on Codeplex. It is free.
Cheers
Jamie
