Is it ok to enable the Autoshrink feautre of databases on the production boxes?

No ! Because :
- you never know when it's going to decide to shrink.
- the shrink operation will have it's impact on the system and for the users
- your database has grown for a reason ! If it's normal to have huge volume fluctuations, just let it have that space to the db so it doesn't have to suffer the extend of the file(s) when the data grows again.
- If the volume shrinkage is due to a planned operation, and you want to shrink the db-files, also plan the shrink action with the operation. This way you have control and you know when and why it happens

I don't do it, preferring to run shrinks when I need them.
