auto startup of SQL serer Agent

    We are using SQL 2000 standard server and one of the servers SQL server Agent is always stopped when the server restarted despite the fact that it set to auto restart at failure. One server it always working while on the second server it always stopped after restart and no event on a failure in the application log.

    any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Did you set your SQL Server Agent auto-start? You can set it either on the Windows services or the properties of SQL Server.

    Anything in the security or system logs? Service startups usually appear in the system log. The Agent start should also be logged in the SQL errorlog.
