Hi all,
Forgive me if this is a dumb *** question but .... I'm sure I recall a method to gen an sa password by adding a startup option & restarting sql non?!
The password is displayed in the errorlog.
This isn't important but it's doing my head in now. I've been googling for days now. I haven't eaten, I haven't washed. It's one of those annoying / tip of the brain / what was the name of that film with ... type situations that is driving me to distraction.

Personally never heard of it and cant really see the use either? What would worry me most is that the new password would be in the log which anyone with access to the box could happily read in notepad :w00t:
I can understand regularly changing the sa password for security purposes but having the system randomly generate it and then having to go in the log to find out what its been changed too just sounds bizarre 🙂
Sorry not much help but would be intrigued if the feature does exist
