An error occured while writing an audit trace. SQL Server is shutting down. Check and correct error conditions such as insufficient disk space, and then restert the SQL server.
SQL Trace was stopped due to server shutdown.
Can someone help me. I have 255 G of free hardware space so why does SQL shut for insufficient disk space, please help.

What drive is the C2 trace been written to? That's the drive that's out of space.

I am saving the trace files in:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Data
and that is the disk with 255 G of free space?
