Auditing issue

  • hi all,

its audit time here and i am really getting screwed.

the sql service account (mssqlserver and sql server agent ) uses the domain account for startup.

this account has been given sa rights and has access to all the d/b.

now the auditor is saying that since the n/w administrator ahs this domain password he can just login directly to the m/c and conenct to the d/b and play with it. he wants me to restrict this access for n/w administrators.

i tried jsut on trial basis denying permission for this account (security-login tab. authentication -deny access). but then sql services do ot start. is there any way i can restrict this kind of access.

    thanks for your help.

  • I think you would have to have the Network admin setup the account and allow you to change the password so only you have it. This is a common issue.
