Hi,
We have a very strange problem on a 64-bit (Itanium 2) server running Win 2003 SP1 and AS2000 SP4.
From a 32-bit server with Win 2003 SP1 and AS2000 SP4 I cannot see the properties of the 64-bit server using Analysis Manager. We also found out that the problem also applies to the Registry itself. I.e., from the 32-bit servers we cannot see the key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OLAP Server”.
We checked and my user is both Administrator and OLAP Administrator in both servers.
So far nothing strange (some error somewhere), it works from PCs in a different domain and over WAN.
Any ideias?
Thanks.

Hi,
Being a 64-bit server it has “two registry” one regarding de 64-bits and the other for 32bit. Relevant to AS2000 there are two relevant keys:
Apparently, Win2003 SP1 inhibits in some situations the access to the 64-bit key. The workaround that we used is to manually synchronize both keys until Microsoft provides a hotfix.
Be aware that the server uses always the 64-bit key, but sometimes the Analysis Services (32-bit application) only sees the 32-bit key.
Hope it helps in the future.
