Hi All
I am currently having a 4 server environment, all this servers have a warm server that has got a delay of 15 minutes, maintained by log-shipping, I am using this warm servers as read only servers for reporting system, the data is 15 minutes delay , and the time the reports gets populated its a 30 minutes delay.
I am looking for a better solution ( as close as to live systems), I have considered Mirroring, but with mirroring i cant use the mirror server (can i ?) , this leaves me with replication, frankly i am not good at replication and used it only once in production systems and i had some bad experience.
There are some restrictions, we have got SQL 2005 standard, ( so mirroring with snapshot is not possible)
Please help me
Any suggestion is much appreciated

If your bad experiences were in 2000 with the replication then I'd give replication another go, it's a lot better in 2005 and more stable. If not just have a go with it on a test server.

thanks , i tries from SQL 200 - SQL 2005 that was then i had this experience :-), do you think 2005-2005 is stable and worth giving a try 🙂

If it's all 2005 it's a lot better, no more having to be on the same hotfix level etc you had with 2000 so it's a lot easier to manage.

Thanks BU69, i will give it a go , by the mean time is there any other option that i have on this solution that you can think of 🙂

Not using Standard edition, you don't have many options other than what you have mentioned or develop your own system of moving data about with SSIS but by the time you've developed that it might not be any better than the tools you have at your disposal so I'd go with replication but I'd try and test a lot first to make sure it's better than your current set up.
