How have you seen companies address all of the historical reports that have came from a database that now exist in a spreadsheet or pdf that sit on a network drive or are in an email server?

Haven't seen anyone come up with a good way here. I think in general, a file system search (like Google/Sharepoint/MS Search), might be the way to deal with gathering information. I know some companies are looking to remove history after legal obligations, just to avoid continued risk.

In my latest role each team (non IT) were tasked with searching all their personal drive space - desktop and server - their shared drive space and emails and then simply deleting them! Ditto with personal emails, although I am not sure what happened with regard to former employees where there may be documents in any retained personal space such as their desktop.
