Are you bored at you job? All the projects are not challenging. I am writing SQL code everyday and I feel I am learning anything new.
The company is still not going to SQL Server 2005. I am hoping it will go to SQL Server 2005 so at least I can learn something new.
I guess I should not complain.

You can always set a goal to build something challenging, then write an article about it!
Off course the money is not as great .

Even better, identify a need or shortcoming at your workplace, and build a solution for the problem using SQL Server. You will 1) solve a problem, 2) learn a lot, and 3) showcase your SQL Server skills to your employer.
And then, of course, write about it

Here is a tip. Don't make your work your entire life. Being on these fourums is a two way street and fills multiple facets of my life. I love writing software and SQL is just one of the languages I use. (I'll be in SQL, VB-6, VB.Net, HTML, and PHP just today) Besides the software, writing these posts is fun for me. I learn a lot here and give back too.
One of the best ways to get friends is to be a friend. Social interaction is needed to round you out. I find a great deal of support (and give support) in my church activities. OK, not everybody like that but it works for me.
Read everything that you can. If you have a home computer then download SQL Express 2005 and play with it. You probably can still get the MSDE version of SQL 2000. The one that I got from Microsoft has Enterprise manager. Getting a full development environment set up at home can be expensive but just SQL server can be less than 100 US. Do that and play with it at home. I did things like that to teach myself.
There are lots, and lots of ways to increase your life. Do all that are good for you. Everything can be an adventure. Everyday can be a worthy journey. I says this partly because 9 years ago the doctors only gave me a max of 5 years to live. (Long boring medical story ommited here. Will publish elsewhere later.) Largely how things appear depend on how you look at them.
And remember, your work is only one part of your life. As you expand your work expand the rest of you life too. That way the proportions stay the same and you don't become boring.

I like the above advice. There are times a job is just a job. Look for a challenge elsewhere, either in technology or outside it.
If you're really bored, maybe take a project on Rent a Coder and use your skills or build some other ones up.

Or do what I did. Get a new job that gives you what you're lacking in your current job (especially if the current job refuses to allow you the opportunity for the things you crave).
