This OP "really appreciates" helpI looked at the thread Lutz, and to me it looks as if it's not lack of appreciatiuon it's standard American misuse of language, just like most Americans saying "I could care less" when they actually mean "I could not care less" - which even confuses some other Americans.
As an ESL I'm by far not used to American English to that degree but I never heard that phrase being used in the meaning you implied - on the other side, I've heared "I could care less" quite often... Would some of you EFL's please enlighten me?
When I put that phrase in context with the thread in question it makes sense to some degree: there is no coded answer to the question yet. (I don't even know what a coded answer would look like based on the question... 😉 )
Well, but there are more important things going on right now then this possible language barrier..
Speaking of it: I'm really impressed how fast the "internet authorities" (if such term even exists) react once they're informed about massive plagiarism. Amazing! It was just a matter of a few hours...
I took it as we could provide more help in the form of a better response than had already been given, but I may be wrong. That is why I pointed the OP to Jeff's article on asking for help.

I guess the thing is that people know that that kind of plagiarism hands amunition to those who advocate strong government controls over the internet, and most people who make real use of the internet, especially if they make money from the uncontrolled internet, really don't want strong government controls to happen. So when something like this crops up, the site owner stamps on it hard and fast unless he is taking a very short term view.

... and things get even more interesting. I just got an e-mail from a guy at an organization called the "Network Professional Organization". Apparently they caught wind of the situation and are worried because they were about to give some kind of award to the site. I'm guessing that's not going to happen at this point.I have to say, I love it when karma repeatedly slaps these guys in the face. And it's even better when I've been able to give it a little push in the right direction 😀

That really is quite unfortunate - maybe they should be a little more careful.
Oh and nice push:-D

Are the posted questions getting worse? Someone just asked how to install SQL Server on Linux, so judge for yourself.
I saw that thread and thought it was a joke - just walked on by.

Speaking of uncontrolled internet usage and postings, several folks have listed their Twitter sites on posts lately. Not being a Twitterite, I couldn't resist taking a peek. All I can say is GAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Hi everyone,
I am one of the member of hyderabadtechies.info.A website
which has created lot of interest to members these days
Thanks for all your efforts and interest
in making a small website lose its dignity and reputation.
First to start with paul white nz whose article was
published due to lack of moderation and eventually
removed it from the website once a mail is received.
As simple as that we did the right thing to do.
Next the personal interest of Adam mechanic comes in to
picture where he sends a mail to INETA head demanding a explanation
about this issue and addressing our site as plagiarized.
I do agree posting some others articles in others name is
a offense and its a rule to send the website a warning which has
published the article. He should have directly mailed to
us about this issue and we should have done the right thing
as we did in the case of paul white nz instead he chose a way
that's hard to understand why would any one mail to INETA
instead to the site moderator.Let me tell few facts about this
website as given by adam in one of his posts we were about to
receive a award which was obviously canceled and I would like to ask
why would we receive INETA or other recognitions with out valid reasons
they are not fools after all.
1)We are the first UG group in the world to use live meeting as a means to
conduct online sessions every day in the past.
2)We have conducted non stop 48 hours online sessions on Microsoft technologies
a record which is yet to be broken by all UG's.
details@http://hyderabadtechies.info/index.php/events/techwar
3) Feb fever- a unique event to encourage new authors by author builder program
tech round table a chance for peers to meet experts .for more info
@http://hyderabadtechies.info/index.php/events/february-fever
4)Tech abc - event where online sessions on basics of Microsoft technologies were given.
http://hyderabadtechies.info/index.php/events/tech-abc
5)Non commercial website ,we don't get a penny profit on this website
completely non commercial.gifts are given to members on weekly and monthly basis from the owner himself.
6)we have our mentor and author program to encourage new speakers and authors.
Articles are only a part of our website we do agree its our mistake to cross
check the articles but mistakes are bound to happen some times,it happens even in big websites.
I feel the kind of judgment all of the reputed members passed on our website with out
knowing truth and the enthusiasm they showed on degrading our reputation with out themselves
doing the right thing is objectionable.
Finally I would to like remember the words by Adam in this issue
"I have to say, I love it when karma repeatedly slaps these guys in the face"
Roy give some benefit of doubt to your fellow Indians instead of doubting every one.
.
I would like to bring to your notice the words by adam
"I'm convinced that it's a cultural thing. Apparently in Indian culture it's okay to copy someone Else's work."
I feel these comments are too personal about a particular "race" and he shud take back these comments.
Roy don't u feel these comments are offending and u shud offend him than degrading u r fellow Indians.

DSD, I'm not directly involved in this discussion, but let me throw in my two cents.
As far as I know, many articles in your site were plagiarized. You say that Adam should have contacted you instead of INETA, but it doesn't work this way. You can't remove plagiarized content only when the legitimate author comes in complaining. What about the authors that don't discover their articles? Is it ok for you to leave those articles online?
I think it's up to you first to check the contributions you receive before publishing: you are responsible for what you publish. I don't think you can post here your rant to make things look like you had been damaged by Adam or Paul: you've been damaged by yourself.
It's not a matter of bad faith, it's just a matter of omitted contol. Your site gains "dignity and reputation" from the articles you publish, so I think it's legitimate to lose "dignity and reputation" when the articles are found to be plagiarized.
As a side note, Roy is first of all a respectable person. It doesn't matter where he comes from. I live in Italy, the land of Mafia, Camorra, 'Ndrangheta and "sacra corona unita" (they're all criminal organizations): I can't deny they exist and people talking about those organizations don't offend me as Italian. I simply try to be respectable and have nothing to do with them.

As a site administrator I request you to kindly ignore my Core member comments. I am
closing down my site for few weeks just because of plagiarism and I have
learned lot of things esp: how serious issue is plagiarism. Its
totally my mistake for not directing my moderators in proper way.
Thanks to all the team because of you I have learned many things in
terms of the cautiousness I have to maintain and assuring you all that
this will never happen in future.
It's my humble request to stop the discussions about this issue as this site will however be down for few weeks.
I really appreciate Adam from whom I learned a lot and sincere apologies to original author.
I promise to see that such things will never happen in future.
Thanks for understanding.

Good luck and glad to see you're not abandoning the site. As someone that publishes other peoples' content, I've been bitten by plagiarism before as well. Take it down, remove the offender from the site, and apologize to the author and members.
It is tough to police, and if you need help, please feel free to contact me.
