If the truth be known, I too agree that a person should strive to solve a problem no matter what it is, by due diligence and at the very least, show some initiative...if it truly matters to them. I know how hard we all study to stay current and I too would shun laziness too. As most of you could see, I had never posted a response here before. Guess you know why... I want to extend a sincere apology to all of you...especially those of you who felt strong enough to reply and to those of you who were eqqually ticked off at me. Guess I too was having a bad day and needed to stop by th water cooler. I just want to say..sorry.Anthony
There is zero need to fall on your sword. And it's fine to point out where we've gone off, when we've gone off. All I'm asking is for you to be prepared for dialog. Maybe we don't see where, or if, we've gone off and will disagree. Just help us out. That's all we're trying to do here and we need help doing it.
Welcome to SSC and to The Thread (aka Water Cooler).

Welcome to The Thread. 🙂 I'm glad I was proven to be mistaken in my first assessment. 🙂

Anthony, here is an example of somebody never ever willing to learn how to post. He just waits for others to do his job. Chris' reply is simply well deserved.

I am putting the finishing touches on draft 1 of a new article. Anybody out there willing to give it a review? What's it about?
Simple subject - sp_who2. Hoping it will be worth the read and effort.
I would love to look at it as well... There was a thread here about creating a new version of sp_who2. It was sp_who5 if I am not mistaken and I was also working on it. So this will interest me.

And that is why I help out... I end up learning more, and it has the benefit of enforcing what I do know, so that it doesn't slip into the forgotten terroritory.

Hi,anybody of you folks influenced by the volcano eruption on Iceland?
I haven't been hit by it yet, but I'm supposed to be flyin from ACE to MAN next Tuesday and it's just guesswork whether I will be screwed by the ash or not.
Tom, just out of curiosity, what does your signature mean? I think it's Scot-Gaelic and you look very Scottish (my Scottish uncle could be your lost twin...).
I knew I liked you 😉

There are a lot of re-writes out there. I have tried to add a different angle than just a re-write.
I will send it your way.
Find this sp_who5 I must.

Same here. I have learned so much more by being involved here at SSC, it is well worth the time.

Ditto! Heck, half the people who post here on the thread are mentioned, by name, in my book's acknowledgement. You guys wrote as much as I did (and I'll give you as big a share of the royalties as I get).

The first line is literally "don't raise me without I fall but if I do fall do raise me" but the real meaning is "don't correct me unless I'm wrong but when I am wrong do correct me". The second line is "The world will come to an end but love and music will survive". Both are fairly well known sayings.

Same here, sort of.
I signed up here with a silly question brought about due to me being forced to take on some DBA duties while he was on long-term sick. He ended up back pretty early, but I'm still not over the panic I suffered.
Since then I've stuck around, attempting to answer the QoTD and always answering the questions that appear on the forums. Often I don't post my answers, simply because someone else has got there quicker and made a much more efficient solution but I always attempt to come up with something on my own first. I then check the answer one of you ninjas give and spend some time attempting to understand it.
