Having a good day today. Working through a problem comparing two datasets and finding those that don't match from either. Thought about it, mocked up some data and tried it, then was going to post my solution and ask if it made sense, but found a thread where Jack suggested the very thing I came up with!must be larnin' sumthin! 😀
I'll have to remember that thread so I can point the next "relational purist" ******* who complains about the absence of a symmetric difference operator at it.

Is it me, or are the posted questions getting worse these days?I just read a post by someone apparently in charge of something who was asking how to take a database backup and restore it on another server.
It seems like the general feeling of a lot of DBA's (term used loosely) these days is that they do not need to learn anything by reading or studying and they should simply post questions without doing any work themselves. I would expect that they can click the search button at least once before posting a question in a forum.
Anyone else disappointed lately, or am I just getting bitter?
I know I'm going to burn in hell for this one, LOL, but has anyone gotten around to answering this question. 😀
Yeah, check pages 300, 405,452, 137, etc oh and what page are we on now?:-D
Next stop, page 1500...
It all depends, how many posts per page are you displaying? I have it set to 50 posts per page.
I meant...Next stop, POST 1500... 🙂
I think you dropped a trailing zero somewhere.

So is there a good way to search within a thread specific thread? Looking for information from earlier in this thread. Someone suggested using Milk as a marinade for steak. I think it might have been Grant or Gus? Just lookign for the rest of the info on it.anyone who can point me in the right direction?
thanks,
-Luke.
I think this is the post you're looking for: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost822506.aspx
Yes, that is the post. I was able to find it with Google, but to actually get to it, I had to change the number of posts per page to 10, else I just kept going to the end of The Thread.

The same happened to me. I had to pick the translated search option to make it work. It was quite funny: The Thread doesn't make much sense in English, but it makes no sense at all in (Google's) Italian!!! :-D:-D

It's an expression saying that one doesn't know anything.

I wouldn't say I'm sick of it, but obviously I've heard it and used it many times.
Gianluca, the phrase "You don't know Jack" means you don't know anything. Here's a Wikipedia entry for it.

That's okay, Gianluca. I sometimes feel like my IQ is dropping when I do get the jokes.

Anybody have some references that support setting the maximum memory setting for SQL Server 2005 x64?
Apparently, personal experience doesn't count.
