ARID = Alternate Reality ID.I believe it's parameter 117, but I'd have to confirm that with Gail.
From what I recall, it's 117 if in a closed universe, 118 if in an open universe, and both if the universe is in a steady-state.
Unless P=NP, then you've got to use negative numbers.
How do I make a GUID negative? Maybe that could help me get rid of this beard....

No, that's not quite how I would put it. I would say however, that there are some people who clearly create the vast majority of their own problems yet live their entire lives in a blissful crusade of blaming everyone else in the universe for it.There are plenty of those types throughout the universe.
Not like this person. Seriously, I've known my share too, but on a scale from 1 to 10, said person is about a 12.5. Just track their previous posts sometime if you don't believe me, they are relentless and monomaniacal about it.
I believe you. I've seen the posts concerning that editorial.
I also happen to know very well some people that rate at about a 13 (of course the ratings may be skewed by perception one way or another). 😀

Uuhhm, I would say that in a P=NP universe, a beard would be the least of anyone's problems. Concern about God deciding to Reboot at any second would be a much more pressing issue ... 😀

Barry.... how do we know He didn't just do that?
Don't answer that.... I may do my next article on P=NP. The Clay Institute pays better than SSC.

I pretend I'm a DBA, but like Grant I'm more of a Database Developer, who wants to be a DBA. I actuallyu just finished a discussion with one of my bosses (don't ask as it would take too long to explain) about how I believe I'm underutilized by the enterprise and need to be more involved in the administration of data across the enterprise, even though that might mean I don't do as much other development work. Her brought up the the term DBA for the enterprise, and I said, "Yeah, that's where I'm going with it". I'm still not sure I did the right thing as now I could end up being responsible and that's not something I've got much practice at :w00t:I actually now have to present what I think I should be doing. Anyone have a DBA Job description they want to share? 😉
Jack, I don't know how this is possible, but I had the exact same discussion with my boss 1 month ago, with the same outcome. And the same fear: did I make the right move? Now I'm settling in as the enterprise DBA, but I'm much more comfortable with development and I'll have to learn quickly tons of stuff about admnistration.

I'm sure you bought your copy of MVP Deep Dives: I think chapter 24 by Brad McGehee is a good description of what a DBA should be doing.

BTW, I received my copy of SQL Server MVP Deep Dives two weeks ago, but I ordered it 3 weeks earlier from Amazon.com, even if I chose the Expedited International Shipping. When I received it I saw it was shipped from Auckland, NZ!!! That's why it took so long!

That missing cert thread went crazy. I saw the notifications yesterday, but couldn't respond in meetings. There's no winning it, especially when there is someone that doesn't view the interpretation of their words as you do.
This thread seemed to go crazy as well. Killing my webmail while I'm out of town.
