I just saw that thread posted by Paul. With Kim out of town, he's in a cranky mood. Never a good day to argue with, but I think this week is worse than most.

Before we have a DBA contest some one is going to have to define what a DBA does first.............

Anybody dare ask Paul if DBCC TimeWarp might be a good solution for this problem? 😀

I'm doing it wrong then, I just tell them 'NO'
LOL the dbcc timewarp suggestion BTW. Gail can provide cross SQL version parameters.

Funny stuff. I'm just an ordinary developer with no real DBA training or experience, yet it still struck me as odd to suggest rebuilding a index as a fix for corrupted data.
LOL at the popcorn comment at the end...

You're not being a good DBA then. You should act as if you care; then say "NO!"

Ah, yes, of course, sincerity, once I learn how to fake that I've got it made 🙂

Absolutely. Listen. Nod your head. Say you understand. Every once & a while go "Oooh, interesting"
Then, when they run out of steam, stand up and say "No f'ing way and here's why...."

And then the next day you get a call from your manager who explains exactly why you'll be doing whatever heinously stupid operation it is that the developer decided they wanted to do.

Same story.

FYI and/or FWIW
I'm a developer, not a DBA; but I've spent more time helping DBAs get their job(s) done than I have waiting for DBAs to finish mine. I sit in the DBA's corner.
