Heh... thanks for the great compliment but, nah... just passing it forward. 🙂

Lynn,You have 9841 posts (which doesn't include QOD points, etc)... Only 159 more to be only the 4th person (not including Steve) in the history of SSC to break the 10k barrier. 🙂 Heh... try not to do it all on "the thread". 😛
Let the countdown begin.

Reminds me of why I always want everyone to expand on the business requirements as it will save us both time.

So true. They (the people with the business knowledge) always seems to omit one crucial detail until the day before go-live...

Does that work? I have a project plan that began on 3/1 - not yet approved - but completion is due on 3/31. Already lost a week.......and who will be to blame?

Every time I get these "Hey, let's build a database that doesn't have referential integrity/indexes/normalization/mirrors our objects/only stores unstructured data/etc, I honestly try to convince them that they don't need a database. It's so weird. "We want a DB that behaves just like a flat file." Then why don't you just use a flat file? "Oh, but we have to have a database" Why?
I have a bad reputation at work.

In that case, you could point them to Excel and say: "Done"
(I know it's not the correct solution.)

I think DBAs are the most hated people in the IT industry.... 🙂
But there are lots of developers who wants to do it right. There are only a handful that dont give a Da** about the Database and its performance.
