No love for FIFA WorldCup?

I won't be attending any of the games because my team (Croatia) ain't going to WC, but I'll be rooting for teams like Brazil and USA, those two are most promising ones for winning the title

USA has a world cup winning team? I did not expect that for the next 5 yrs because they are so new to the world cup.
I will be watching the games on TV. SA is way too far off to afford... 🙁

I hope they'll set up those great public viewing areas again like they did in 2006 over here in Germany. It almost makes you feel like to be in the stadium.
IIRC they had over a million people up there in Berlin for the final. It was crowded but awesome, I've been told...

Yeah on the last FIFA Confederations Cup in South Africa, USA was in the finals with Brazil and they were really good, they lost but I think they can go all the way.
It will be very interesting, that's what I can tell you for sure 🙂

Some love / interest, but I am not much of a fan of football. It helps that NZ qualified (for only the second time ever!) I'm very much into Rugby Union.

The US isn't exactly new to the World Cup, but I doubt that they really have a shot at winning any time soon.
There are huge numbers of grade school, high school, and college soccer players in the US, but the big money at the professional level in the US is just not there. The best players still head to Europe. I doubt that soccer will ever rival American football, baseball, and basketball as big money sports in the US. However, professional soccer is growing in popularity and seems to have a following.

Though the US squad is not a favorite to win, I will still be cheering for them. They have been getting better with each year and they are pretty good.
