That's quite the thread.
I think we need to devise a way in which we can shock people through their keyboards when they post something stupid.
I'm sure I would get shocked now and then, but totally worth it.

I meant more like the last post on this thread: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic608342-145-1.aspx
Nice.
I also liked his responses to your posts. He answered your questions, provided sample data; all in a format that didn't require reworking as well. Looks like he knows his stuff and how to ask for help.
I can understand his issues with SQL Server triggers. Back in '96 at my last employer we were deciding which RDBMS to use so had InterBase and SQL Server 6.5 running side by side. Both are good products, but SQL Server won out because the developer on the team found it easier to interface with SQL Server than InterBase using Visual Studio 6.

...and - we're doing it again. By virtue of this thread alone - we're HIGHLIGHTING the "ugly threads" which mean they get more facetime, and (probably) more answers than they usually would....:)

Can you say gulliable, or maybe good-hearted?
For all the faults of the "bad posts" we are a community that cares. And, who knows, maybe some of these individuals can be trained, or maybe some of them will simply "get it" one day and things will start clicking, and they will join the ranks of the heavy hitters on this site and join in the complaining of the "bad posts".

I guess we all need to do what I did today .... have a day off :w00t:
I followed a "refresh" day of CPR for human victims this time.
It cleared the mind, loaded my batteries, .... and I got to practice cpr on the lovely dummy in the training jacked 😀
And I'm ready to take another day of dba labor :smooooth:

True enough... but think of this thread like you would a bar... good place to comiserate. Good friends that have gone through the same kind of hell talking about the different colors of hell... 😛
But, you're right... I think it was Churchill that said something to the effect of "When you're going through hell, keep going." :hehe:
You guys have a great Thanksgiving.

Good gosh. That's pretty horrifying. He's using you guys like a living manual. I mean, it's pretty clear, he's not opening the BOL, at all. And people wonder why I laugh when they talk about outsourcing.

I have done a couple of consulting jobs following guys like that. Eventually they do something horribly destructive and the company will have to pay someone to fix it.
