Are the posted questions getting worse?

Personally, if I'm ever wrong (it's bound to happen someday), I prefer to just be put in front of a firing squad. 🙂

Would that be the "Shoot-Aim-Ready" firing squad?

Whoah!! Wait just a minute there! Who said anything about them shooting??? I just said put me in front of them! 🙂

Just pointing out the obvious. The firing squad would come from some of the noise here :-D:-D

I guess that is where it pays to keep copious records and notes. For some of you guys, that could be quite the lengthy process. Commendable for those that receive the award.

    Not really.

Forum posts - ask Steve to query the DB for here. Similar thing with admins at other sites.

Articles - check the contributor page (for here) or the article page (at simple talk) or ask the owner of whichever site it's on to get counts

Blog posts - check blog stats

Presentations - count while you're there, conference sends ratings later. Check email.

Books - ask the publisher for sales counts

There are couple of guys/ladies here in this forum who have done quite a bit for the community and have a pretty good knowledge that deserve a MVP Status. That is from my standpoint.

And I'll tell you now that at least one of those people has been nominated. I'm not naming names... yet, but I hope they'll get in.

Well, if we hear that Alvin or Gus get it, I know I'll be excited for them.

If only. Don't think it will happen anytime soon.

  • Barry is another one that I would be quite happy for should he become a MVP. He's done a lot as well and deserves the recognition.

  • Barry would be a good person to be an MVP.

And why would you say that? If you've helped people here on SSC, your involved in your PASS chapter, sounds to me like you're in a position worthy of such recognition.

On another note, your comment took me back many years; I was in the tape library in 427M Core Processing Segment (NORAD) when the Admin for the unit came in (he was a Technical Sargent and I was just a Sargent) and told me I made Staff Sargent, my first and uncontrolled response was bulls***. Turned out I did, but I got out before I put it on.

Lynn, you just listed everything that I have done that could be considered for MVP status. That's not enough for MVP. I may have a start, but I still have a very long way to go.

I got my first notification I was awarded MVP on April 1st. Don't think my first response wasn't the same as yours. Then I spent about 10 minutes minutely examining the message header to ensure that it had gone through nothing but valid servers on its way to me. That's just not a good day to get that kind of news.

Let's see what I have: A sporadic blog with not much on it, assisting people here, 4 articles (2 of which were published first on sswug.org and then here), assisting people here. Haven't been active in the local users group (meeting days conflict with church), haven't presented any where, haven't written a book or even a chapter of a book.

Looks like I have a ways to go as well.

It's not just what you do, but how you do it.

You're putting up a good smoke screen while you fill out your supporting documentation;-)
