Now Gail's got an Interview question from the poster.
I think I do too, I'm writing that down..
That whole chain made me laugh.. I can't believe he held on so tightly to the data extraction method.. His solution went from bad to worse.
I hope he doesn't work for my company..

FYI, we still have not heard anything from the OP.
He's probably sitting on the sidelines saying WTF?

I'm waiting for him to respond to my last comment.
You might get the same question as I got with a small change, "Alvin tell me what you have done if you had a database in suspect mode"
A : Post in SQL Server Central
B : Look for error messages in the error log
C : Bring it to Emergency Mode
D : None of these.

Is the answer to your question "Polish my resume and start job hunting"?

I couldn't resist at the point of the interview question. I wanted to watch from the sidelines and laugh to myself. Great spectacle today. Also looks like you guys helped improve Elliotts week 🙂

Just knowing that I am helping someone is what makes it all worthwhile.(if that doesn't make sense, then note closely the dates & times in the thread above, and at the one he links to...)
I think the time on the MSDN Server is off or it doesn't know what timezone I'm in, which comes out to be about the same. I watched a thread that was "Last Reply 23 hours 49 minutes ago" and when it ticked over to 24 hours it changed to Monday, February 15, 2010 8:28 PM. It's 1:30 PM here, so the date on MSDN is off by 7 hours for me. His original post on MSDN was at 5:37 PM, which would be 10:37 AM for me and your first reply to his thread was at 10:45. So I think yes, he was posting multiple places, but I think he might have posted out there just a few minutes before being able to see your reply.

Rats! You are right, they are five hours off for me, so he actually posted at the same time... gotts go eat crow, I'll be back... 🙁

Heh. I prefer mine fresh and still warm. Letting it sit out there just increases the smell, in my experience.

Then, after a quick "conversation" with Gail, and not knowing what errors occurred to put the databases in suspect mode, he recommends putting them in Emergency mode then extract the data?
Heh. That was Face-Saving Attempt #3. #4 was trying to trump Gail by pointing the OP to Paul Randal's blog.

I'm getting quite sick and tired of people posting answers to corruption/suspect DB questions when it's obvious they don't have a blithering clue what they're talking about.
Hang in there Gail. Without you, some of these folks in trouble would end up having to listen to them.
