While reading the thread for today's headline article, I thought of an excellent interview question:"What is the most important data in the world?"
I think you could gain plenty of insight into the candidate from that question. Canned answers could be determined, sincerity determined, and BS can be determined. You would be able to determine how much they like being a DBA or want to be a DBA.
Honestly, importance is always both subjective and situational. If you're trapped in a locked building with a ticking time bomb, the most important data in the world is far different from if you're trapped in a locked building with a hot, lonely, blonde bombshell. And even that changes if there are zombies outside trying to get in.

So just off the top of my head not a lot of thought answer would be, my data, which could mean the data I'm currently protecting at my job etc, or could mean my identity depending on the look on the face of the interviewer...
Or more seriously, probably the data stores of the NASDAQ and NYSE, or even the Tokyo or London exchanges. Sure you could make a case for missile launch codes and such, but those can be changed, disabled etc... Think about all of the worldwide economic issues that would be affected by the loss of say an hour of trading or worse a couple of hours or a day...

That's not a bad question. It will get you an idea of how people think.

Made me think of McGruber - http://www.hulu.com/watch/19684/saturday-night-live-macgruber-father-and-son
If you're with him, I'm not sure anything is important!

Strictly as a psychological question. There would technically be no wrong answer - except "I don't know."
I would use it to learn about the candidate.

Hey Jason. I don't know what triggerred this thought, but the word Mentor just made me think of the French word: menteur.
Let's hope the 2 words don't apply to the the same person. π

Huh? What? You said something about zombies? I was distracted by the bombshell.

Speaking of psychological response interview questions, anyone watch "the Middle"? favorite interview of all time now is "If you could be any color, what color would you be?"
response was "I guess the color that I am, are you even allowed to ask me that?"
