I loved the touch of Ella, bb.Wayne, and anyone else, I've taken the liberty of creating a forum specifically for DBCC TIMEWARP here.

Sliced a nice inch long flap of skin off my thumb this morning.
Typing with one hand is a slow process 🙂

Ow... sorry to hear that Dave. Hope you heal quickly.
I do have to agree with George's question though....
Alvin: Can I change my topic for next month from spatial to DBCC TIMEWARP?
Gail: April first is my birthday. Explains a great deal, doesn't it? There should be plenty of material for articles by both you and Wayne if the sidebar thread keeps going. It seems to be off to a great start.

No you can't, but, I've been thinking that it could be fun to, in addition to you real topic, introduce this new undocumented feature and watch the reaction. I think we might need a video camera for this one. The reaction could be priceless. 😀

Thankfully I read that twice. I just glanced at it and thought it said "NINE inch long flap of skin."
I was about to ask you just how long your thumb is, Dave.

Maybe, but it won't be a new joke anymore. I'll find something else to write about. Maybe.
btw, having the link in your sig may cause bad feelings when people go looking for a real solution in a crisis and find a joke (and maybe even not realise it's a joke for a couple of posts)

I thought about that, but it's a risk I'm willing to take for the moment. I never offer advice in the threads with people who actually have those kinds of problems and are seeking your help in a crisis. I went to pains to set it up in the "Not About SQL" section. My impression is also that people don't click on signature links very much. An article would stand a much greater chance of being found by someone who is desperate.
At worst, someone who is idly curious will click on it. If they don't quickly realize that it's a joke, well......... (evil chuckle).....
I would frankly love to see your face if someone asked you if DBCC TIMEWARP wasn't the solution to their problems. (I say this from the safety of being half a world away.) But it's not going to happen.

Well, at least we don't have to worry that someone will mess up their database by running the command.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

They may not click very often, but they do. A lot of my blog traffic comes from that link in my sig.
