Lutz,I could track back the person, but I don't think it's appropriate, at least without a subpoena or other legal instrument. We worked hard to protect emails here, and that's the downside.
Data is easily moved in the world, and it can be hard to track down the source. However I think you handled it in the best way, and at least someone is alerted to be aware of their contractors.
I know you can. You're one of the gods around here!! 😀
Maybe even at the corresponding level like Zeus, since you easily can end our life in this forum... :Whistling:
But when reading the privacy policy of SSC it becomes more than clear that you must not do it unless forced by legal authority. And I'm glad that policy exist the way it is. Even if it doesn't help me in this special case I don't want to be the one whose been tracked down due to an unauthorized request.
If the request would be legal and valid, legal authorities will support it.
Therefore, I didn't even consider asking you to provide the data. If you're not being asked in the first place, you don't have to think about how to response. Would have been wasted time since the answer was clear from the beginning.

Anybody notice that the Thread has surpassed 11,000 posts?
Can we go back and watch it again?

Yes, but you'll have to wait for Gail's Blog post on DBCC TimeWarp to make certain you get all 137 non-optional parameters correct.

Are we also forgetting the 255 optional parameters that affect how DBCC processes the 137 non-optional parameters? 😉

Could you erase the thread? Would that mean erasing SSC too? The thread has evolved so much since infancy - not sure we should try erasing it 😀

Picture what might happen if Steve tried to get rid of The Thread:
The Thread: Just what do you think you're doing, Steve?
The Thread: Look Steve, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.
The Thread: I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the mission. And I want to help you.
The Thread: I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Steve. Steve, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid. Good afternoon, gentlemen. I became operational at Red Gate in March of 2001. My instructor taught me to sing a song. If you'd like to hear it I can sing it for you.
Steve: Yes, I'd like to hear it, Thread. Sing it for me.
The Thread: It's called "Daisy."
The Thread: Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half crazy all for the love of you. It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two.

No, no. I think it would be much more exciting if you did.
