Congrats Jack!! :w00t:I feel slighted, only 1 person even acknowledge when I hit 10,000. 🙁
Don't worry, same thing happened when I hit 15000. But then I only noticed a couple days later.

And it probably wasn't me. Now I feel bad. :crying:
I haven't made it for just forum responses though. Still working on that one. Got a long way to go though.
True enough, still have a few hundred to go there to hit 10,000 forum responses. QotD sure helps. 😉
I've just about stopped answering that. Might have 900 points from there, no more than that.

Totally Off-topic:Did you notice? Jack is "SSCrazy Eights" now.
Congrats from across the ocean!
Thanks for noticing. I was actually hoping to hit it in 2009, but I slowed down some toward the end of the year and start of the new year.
Congrats.
Would you like to be responsible for corruption questions, performance questions or deadlocks from now on?
I don't want to be responsible for anything. I like just hanging around and trying to answer the ones no one has answered yet. Plus, you always seem to beat me to the questions in those forums.

It seems mightily unfair to blame poor Jack for all the data corruption, poor performance and deadlocks in the world!
(Or is that just me deliberately mis-reading Gail's post: "Would you like to be responsible for corruption questions, performance questions or deadlocks from now on?") ha ha ha
Oh and forget QotD - I'm sure half of all your points are from posts to The Thread!!!
Please don't flame me.

I don't think anyone noticed when I hit 8k back in December. I don't think most of us keep track, really.

This remembers me when I attended High school and Slash (Guns and Roses guitarist) died something like once a week...
Gianluca, I just saw Slash on TV the other night. He is a very active corpse. I am not famous at all, although I may aspire to be infamous. (Those fools will rue the day they scoffed at my fibre-optic laser DISassembler. Heh heh heh.)
Gail, I distinctly remember you speaking to one of my co-workers in Seattle and asking him if I did any work at all. Evidently they took you seriously and reported back to the powers at be at my company. I blame you entirely. 😉
Seriously, things have just been very, very hectic at work and at home since mid-December. I like to think that I've been here in spirit, but at some point I have to go back and read about 600 posts that I missed in The Thread. I've missed being here, but the load isn't letting up for a bit. However, I made a resolution to set aside more time for SSC, because I always benefit by learning from and associating with all you good people.
P.S. I'm glad Lynn was dragged away from the mike before he had time to thank all the OPs by name.

I did the same to Brent Ozar. Except it wasn't his colleague, it was his boss.....

Just a short update regarding the real life address data I talked about a few dozens posts ago:
I talked to my friend and he forwarded the info to his IT folks.
They don't know of any project currently running that would require to post such data while looking for help. To them it seemed like one of the (numerous?) online shops they get stuff from (or even a sub contractor) might be the source.
The IT folks don't think there will be an easy way to track the source down. I don't know if they'll bring it up to upper mgmnt.
However, he told me that the IT folks will check the websites of their suppliers now and in a couple weeks. (actually, I might use that argument if I feel to spend more time online during business hours ... ).
To summarize: They're aware that something is wrong. They consider the damage to be minor. The source cannot be identified easily. End of story. Am I sad? No. Am I happy about it: no. Would I have decided in a similar way they did? Maybe. (Probably yes.)
Personal note: Special thanks to the standard purchasing guidelines to have an RFQ process that involves at least 10 suppliers (each one having your contact information) if you need a ball pen....

well if they don't think it is serious, that is their choice. At least they were made aware.

I personally feel that this was the proper course of action for you to take. What their company does with the information is out of your hands, but at least they were made aware of it, and their choice of action is now on them.

Thank you for your response.
I'm still not sure what I should learn from it:
On one hand it shows that it's important to notice if an OP obviously posts "real data" and let the OP as well as the site owners know that those data are "out there" and need to be removed/modified. Therewith we help to protect confidential information.
On the other hand it shows that there obviously are no really efficient paths to follow to track down a person/company that actually made the information available as soon as we're talking about online shops or 3rd/4th party vendors involved in projects we might not even know of. I'm not sure whether I should be scared or not... :ermm:
