I cou'dn't resist in this one as the OP did not ask a question. 😎http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic853917-392-1.aspx?Update=1
Edit: Oops, I missed the "Pl help." at the end.

I have to ask. Is the OP too lazy to type "Please" instead of "Pl"?
Who knows, but he yelled at you for asking what he has tried so far, did you notice that?

Been mostly lurking around this thread, but . . .
I just posted (what I think is) a clarification to this. Let's see what kind of a response we get . . .
Okay, I finally looked at the thread and since the OP did post some attempts I provided a working solution. I don't know that its the best, but it does what the OP wants.

Our OP sent me a message to say my understanding of his problem is dead-on.
Alas, I don't have as much SQL experience as many of you here. I'm about to go back to the thread to post my thought processes . . .

Did you PM him back that he should have replied directly in the thread instead of only to you?

No, I probably should have. I did send him a PM to say I was working on it.
I just posted a reply to the thread saying where I'm going with it. The SQL is pretty simplistic, I know, but I'm hoping it sparks some ideas.

I read that PL as PI help. Didn't check the thread and thought, hmm a trig problem - sweet.

Too late to nudge, someone answered. I wish they wouldn't do that. Encourages laziness.

Good one, Paul. Although I'd forgive the triple-post (maybe a slow refresh or some such tech glitch), your response was perfect. I did try to imply to the OP what a sticky situation he may be in for if he uses it directly and I hope he takes the advice to heart: how will explain code he didn't write and which uses a technique probably not yet covered in the class he's apparently in, and how does he expect to learn if he doesn't put in the effort?
Cheers John - sadly I had already posted a 'sort-of clarification' before I saw your post here. The way I see it he painted us into a corner with his demands, so it seemed to me the best way to show him the error of his ways was to provide a desperately flawed answer that followed his rules. I do hope he gets some benefit from the experience as well as a certain amount of well-deserved embarrassment (firm but fair lol)
