Then there is one application that uses MSDE... and they have it locked down so that we can't even access it to do anything...
Bet that's the dreaded Act! by Sage - a bane of our lives 🙁
Act! ::shiver:: I hate the program. Having had to deal with data exports from that program, I am a firm believer that the people who make the product don't use it. I would not recommend that program to anyone. Use an Excel spreadsheet before using Act! Heck, use post-it notes and pencils instead of Act! You'll have better and more accurate access to your data.

Can I use one that's on my system in a folder entitled SQL Scripts? or do I need to create one.
This is what scared me most...

Scary indeed.
It looks legit to me. That's one OP that has a lot of learning to do. At least he admitted that he was "very new" to SQL.

It turned out to be a table auditing question.

It didn't look like it at all. He took it from very very far.

I agree - it wasn't anything like what I expected from the initial post.

hmmmm.....testing in Production
running random scripts
there may be a chance to learn something, if you do get fired first.
I can see the pale face, and almost here the words 'I didn't do anything'

Sounds like they are afraid someone might be able to fix it...although if someone is persistent, there is usually a way to unlock things.:hehe:
I had Virtual server that I couldn't log into. Seems like something broke and it wouldn't authenticate me to the DC. Fortunately I had a snapshot from serveral months ago. Rolling back to this, I was logged in and could create a local account and recover the machine.
Depending on how it's used, it's either a Feature or a huge security hole.

You should have advised the OP that SQl Server would start giving single beeps when the number of rows inserted gets near the max and will give double beeps when it has reached its capacity....:-)
