If you can't access it, try Tarot cards to figure out the password.I have a set, if you need me to do a reading.
If the password is encrypted and you need another reading, I have a set too.
Here's a fascinating piece on encryption with playing cards, based on Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson.
I like number 7 on the llist at the bottom.....

The nice thing is that the lack of punctuation, case sensitivity, or numbers makes keying in the decryption key on the computer easy. I guess why he said the computer never makes mistakes.

I guess we haven't had much to talk about or complain about. Not sure why, other than it is the same people over and over.

Also, beginning of the year stuff at work. New fiscal calendars, year end reports to push out, etc. Some of us do actually work from time to time, though we try to keep it to a minimum! :w00t: And where have you been for 2 days Roy???? Some sandy beach nearby? 😎

Thankfully, NO! I (actually the family) did get a few good (IMHO) movies: Star Trek, GI Joe, to name a couple.

GI Joe? I don't know, I just couldn't take a movie at face value that has ice falling through water to cruch the undersea base. On the other hand, the power-suits are what Starship Troopers needed and didn't have.

Pure escapism. Yes, I agree, the power-suits really would have added to Starship Troopers.
Plus, I was able to watch the movie with my middle daughter. Of course she watched it for the hottie in the movie.

Why are there so many 'if you don't help me I'll lose my job' posts all over the place? I just got one by PM. Frankly, seeing that in a post doesn't make me more likely to reply, it makes me smell desperation and walk away because I don't want to be the person's designated helper for the next 6 months. Also, what does it say to the world when you say "I can't write a simple procedure and if you don't help me I'll lose my job"
The thing that really confuses me is, how do these people get hired ?.
Is the interview process 'Have you heard of SQL ?'. Good, we'll entrust you with the well being of our company.
I've heard of similar hiring tactics. The tactic was "Can you write a Select *"
And now, I am fixing 100's of procs of nothing but select *
I have had a fail-over happen at my job because of a developer trying to run a Select * on a transaction table (server ran out of memory), where as he only needed data from two of the 150 columns present on the table. I wasn't aware of the select * practice they used here as I was only two days into my job then.
I actually got to convince them to not do it that way, but it did take us some time to revisit all the code in our source control :hehe:
Thanks..

On another note, You guys should take a vacation to this tiny island during new year. You will the whole island lit up at 12 mid night with fireworks and then you will not see the island from the sky... Only smoke...It is worth the money you spend on your air tickets... 🙂

I haven't seen GI Joe, but it looks cool. Working through Angels and Demons on most of my runs now, but might try GI Joe after that.

I'll be close. Heading to St Martin in a couple weeks. I'll raise a glass of rum to the South as a toast.
