The last letter I got from her was dated 9/30. She said it was hard to believe that it had be 65 days already. They had done live fire training that day as well while moving casualties. Her words: "My team kicked butt!" and "It is nerve wracking running while your battle buddies are firing at targets." She should be at Victory Forge now, 7 days in the field.Ah... but has she learned the true meaning of happiness?
"Happiness is....

...
a belt fed weapon." 😛
Actually, according to the Security Police I had the priviledge to work with in England while on SPAF (Security Police Augmentee Force), that just makes you more of a target. 😉

Only if you can find some other poor schmuck to hump the ammo and extra barrels...
😉

Hey! I had to do that sometimes during exercises! The SP's actually told me I had the advantage in hand to hand combat. Anyone else ever carry the spare barrel for an M-60 machine gun? Heavy, and in its carrying case swung by its strap, a very effective cudgel. 😛

nope always had mine vehicle mounted... That's part of the getting someone else to hump it for you. in my case the someone else was a hummer. I preferred the MArk 19 though, slower rate of fire, but man could you tear up some terrain with it... Oh yeah, also belt fed = happiness...

You have to remember, I got OUT of the military 27 years ago. (yep, I'd be retired had I stayed in...)

Yeah, paintballing is fun, especially if you get hit in the neck from the back by your own son. Ouch :w00t:

My friend got hit in his you know where at short range with a paint ball in Automatic mode. That was hysterical for others to see but very painful for him.... :hehe:

OK so you may not have had HMMWV's but I'm sure you'd seen a few Mk 19's they'd been around since 1967 if you believe Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_19_grenade_launcher

Nope, didn't have those at our base in England. The closest we had was M203 slung under the Fire Team Leaders M-16. Would have been fun to get to shoot.

Now that's a real Ouch. Don't the marshals on your side of the world teach you that short range shooting is a definite no-no? They do here, but I stilll ended up with a bad three week bruise on my hip from a two meter shot, just coz I lifted the gun after being hit, but the guy thought I was aiming at him. Darn stupid game (kidding). Prefer baseball (not kidding). At least one usually knows where the hits are gonna come from. 😀

My 10 yr old fired a 12g shotgun a couple weeks ago for the first time. Hit 2/5 clay pigeons. I was impressed.

here no one listens to the marshals. 😀 I remember I got hit when the guy went out with his gun held up and then sneaked back in and shot me in the back. That was painful.
Steve, that is impressive. The recoil usually is pretty strong and your 12 yr old can handle that. And still hit a clay pigeon.
